Estonia - Innovative country
Estonia is a beautiful country (area: 45,000 km2, population: 1.3 million) located at the heart of the Baltic Sea Region – Europe's fastest-growing market of more than 90 million people. An excellent business environment, stable government and liberal economic policy, moderate costs and the ease of doing business have already attracted numerous international companies to Estonia.

 

Since joining the European Union and NATO in 2004, Estonia has experienced phenomenal economic growth. Today, Estonia’s government debt is among the lowest in Europe. Beginning 1 January 2011, Estonia adopted the euro and became the 17th eurozone member state.

Today, Estonia has the highest GDP per person of any country that used to be part of the Soviet Union. Estonia is listed as a High-Income Economy by the World Bank and a High-income OECD member. The United Nations lists Estonia as a developed country with a Human Development Index of "Very High". The country is also ranked highly for press freedomeconomic freedomdemocracy and political freedom and education.

 

Estonia boasts with one of Europe's most modern telecommunications networks and a high degree of IT literacy and technology penetration. Known for very high internet connectivity and pioneering services, like e-Government and mobile parking, Estonia is a unique location that offers exceptional opportunities for innovation.

 

Estonia was ranked 22nd out of 181 countries in the world in the Ease of Doing Business index by The World Bank Group, and 1st in Freedom House’s survey Freedom on the Net. According to the Economic Freedom of the World report, Estonia is among the freest countries of the world.


On August 9, Standard & Poor's raised Estonia's credit rating from A to AA-, a perceived nod to its stringent budgetary policies.

 

Good business opportunities 

Estonia's economy offers key opportunities for companies in a number of sectors including IT, electronics, machinery/engineering, wood processing, logistics/transport, biotechnology and food. The R&D elements of these activities are supported by the country's 10 universities and 25 higher education colleges, which collectively provide a source of graduates, often fluent in English, Swedish, Russian, Finnish and German.

 

Estonia is accessible, both from a logistical and social point of view. Tallinn is within 3 hours flight from major European capitals, located between Russia, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe.
